All Coaches Must Register on line at "www.usahockeyregistration.com", this will give you the insurance piece from USA HOCKEY. Once you are registered you will receive a confirmation that includes a CEP number. This confirmation page will need to be sent/e-mailed to Judy Laroche "motherbiddy21@yahoo.com". Non-parent coaches please send along with your confirmation a note stating to send reimbursement with your mailing address (this also includes any parent coach that is requesting reimbursement).
Thank you,
Jeremy

COACHES’ CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Winning is a consideration, but not the only one, nor the most important one. Care more about the child than winning the game. Remember players are involved in hockey for fun and enjoyment.
2. Be a positive role model to your players, display emotional maturity and be alert to the physical safety of players.
3. Be generous with your praise when it is deserved, be consistent, be honest, be fair and just and do not criticize players publicly. Learn to be a more effective communicator and don’t yell at players.
4. Adjust to personal needs and problems of players. Be a good listener. Never verbally or physically abuse a player or official. Give all players the opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop self-esteem. Teach the basics.
5. Organize practices that are fun and challenging for your players. Familiarize yourself with the rules, techniques and strategies of hockey, encourage all your players to be team players.
6. Maintain an open line of communication with your players’ parents. Explain the goals and objectives of your association.
7. Be concerned with the overall development of your players. Stress good health habits and clean living.
To win the game is great; to play the game is greater; to love the game is the greatest of all.

VSAHA Coaching Guidelines
-
Coaches must progress through the Coaching Education Program in the proper order of coaching level.
-
An active coach may only progress through two (2) different CEP levels in one year. An inactive coach may only progress through one (1) coaching level in one year.
-
All USA Hockey registered coaches (head & assistant) will meet the standardized requirements set forth in the CEP guidelines. Participation in State Tournament Play WILL NOT be allowed without proper certification. Coaches must be able to display an up to date CEP card upon demand by State or Tournament Officials.
-
Each VSAHA registered team will have a Head Coach. This will be an individual who is registered with the team and is actively involved with its day to day operation.
Coaching Certification Guidelines for State Tournament
All coaches must present their coaching card to a Tournament Official prior to the start of their team’s first game. No coach will be allowed on the bench during any State Tournament game unless they can present proof of certification. Proof of certification will be evidenced by a USA Hockey Coaching Card issued in 2005 or later. Those officials who may administer this rule include State Officials, Tournament Officials, and/or Game Officials. Failure to comply will result in game forfeiture. No exceptions.
